Mar 11, 2015  All the fixes I've read involve installing this or that or some system restore (which is NOT system recovery.) HOWEVER 'hostprotocol.exe' is more interesting.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit with Office Professional Plus 2010 64-bit. If I have the Windows Search service running then I get repeated entries in the event log (every second) - see below as well as CPU and disk I/O running high.
